Counselling Services
The focus of professional coaching is on personal growth,
self-improvement, and on realizing one’s potential. But it’s difficult
to move toward self-actualization when the “other stuff” in our lives
gets in the way of our mental health.
In other words, we
sometimes need to clear up the things that are holding us back before
we can move forward.
This “other stuff” can take the form of anxiety or depression;
anger or stress; interpersonal problems or low self-esteem, to
name a few.
And this is what counselling is for: to remedy these things through
learning and practicing new skills; breaking old patterns; and
developing new insights and healthier perspectives. Once we’ve cleared
away some of this “stuff’, we’re ready to focus on being the best we
can be. (In fact, many counselling clients move onto coaching once
they’re feeling healthier and happier in their lives.)
If you recognize that counselling is the best course of action for you
at this time, you should be congratulated for taking back control of
your life. Counselling doesn’t need to be a “forever thing”, and
change really can happen quickly – but we all need some extra
support every now and then.
