A New Coaching Program for Work-Life Balance

THE CHALLENGE: Stress and “dis-ease” as a result of personal and professional role complexity and increasing demands on time

THE SOLUTION: Individual and group coaching as a means for identifying gaps in work/life balance, discovering strengths, setting priorities, and achieving goals

Global research firm Towers Watson recently surveyed 335 human resources and health benefit managers from large companies across Canada. The survey identified employee stress as a major and growing business issue; citing a lack of work-life balance as a primary source of workplace stress.

  • 83% of Canadians have shown up for work while sick or exhausted, and nearly nine in 10 employees believe that stress-related problems are on the rise (Desjardins Financial Services, 2008).

  • Canadian policy and research networks estimate that stress-related absenteeism costs employers $3.5 billion each year (Statistics Canada: Williams, C, 2003, 70)

This is clearly a problem that can’t be ignored.

This coaching program is designed for 8-10 participants, and will run for 90 minutes per week for eight weeks. The total fee for this program is $6500, and includes unlimited email support for participants in between meetings.

Through individual exercises and a combination of peer and group interaction, participants will be coached to examine their lifestyles and apply new tools to reduce their stress. They will also be guided in developing a personal wellness plan to follow in their daily lives.

Upon completion of the coaching program, participants will have:

  1. Gained a clearer understanding of their own work/life balance issues

  2. Developed new skills and plans of action for restoring and/or maintaining balance; and for reaching their goals in the areas of identified importance (career, health, personal, mental, physical, etc.)

“… In addition to providing high quality professional programs and services, Chris and Heather are very easy to work with. Heather and Chris approach their work from a strength-based perspective and have a unique style of coaching and leadership that focuses on participants being empowered and inspired. I would highly recommend them for any organization who is hoping to offer “something extra” to their employees.”
